𝗟𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗨: The Lundu community is urged to support the government’s efforts in promoting patriotism throughout National Month.
Opar assemblyman Billy Sunjang said this while officiating the closing ceremony of the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang Programme in Lundu at the Kampung Biawak Community Hall this afternoon.
“This programme, organised by the Malaysian Information Department (Japen) Sarawak, is in its third year since I became the State Legislative Assembly Member for Opar.
“The efforts made by Japen Sarawak should be supported as a sign of our appreciation for the unity within our community,” said Billy.
He added that the federal and state governments are very concerned about maintaining peace and unity among the people through programmes to sustain the spirit of tolerance and togetherness.
“We are grateful that in Sarawak, the unity of the community is very strong.
“This sense of togetherness is an example for other states in embodying the spirit of the ‘segulai sejalai’ motto.”
Billy also hopes for the Lundu community’s enthusiastic participation in flying the Jalur Gemilang at their residences in support of the 1 House 1 Jalur Gemilang (1R1JG) Campaign organised by the Information Department.
In an earlier speech, the director of Japen Sarawak, who is also the KMJG convoy leader, Helmy Hamid, said the KMJG convoy implementation involves three phases, starting after the Launch Ceremony of the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign for Sarawak on Aug 3, officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
In the second phase starting on Aug 25, the KMJG convoy will move to Sibu, where the National Day Celebration for Sarawak will be held at the University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) on Aug 31.
The third and final phase, on Sept 10, will see the KMJG convoy heading to Sri Aman as the final stop of the KMJG convoy tour for the Malaysia Day Celebration for Sarawak on Sept 16.
Also present were the political secretary to the Premier representing the ADUN for N.3 Tanjong Datu, Abang Abdul Aziz; department heads, community leaders, Madani Community members, and local residents.
