BINTULU: A Mercedes-Benz E250 was destroyed in a fire along the Pan Borneo Highway near Bintulu.
The driver escaped before firefighters arrived.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received a call about the incident at 11.23pm on Tuesday (Oct 13) at a U-turn near Batu 18 along the Bintulu-Miri stretch of the highway.
Firefighters from the Bintulu Fire and Rescue Station arrived at 11.47pm and found the vehicle destroyed.
The driver had managed to get out of the vehicle. No casualties were reported.
Ten firefighters were deployed, supported by a fire engine and an emergency medical rescue services vehicle.
The team extinguished the blaze using a hose reel connected to the fire engine’s water tank.
Police were also present at the scene.
