KUCHING (Oct 4): The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and the Australian armed forces will be conducting a bilateral exercise from Oct 17 to 31.
1st Division Headquarters public communications cell in a statement said the ‘Haringgaroo Exercise Series 74/2024’ would involve the Malaysian 3rd Battalion Royal Rangers and the Australian Rifle Company Butterworth.
To be organised by the 9th Malaysian Infantry, the exercise would cover areas in Sibu-Stapang-Nanga Sekuau.
“Main objective of this exercise is to strengthen ties between ATM and the Australian armed forces while enhancing joint training capabilities,” said 9th Infantry Brigade commander Brigadier-General Ahmad Norzaini Badrun in the statement.
He urged local residents and villagers around the training areas to provide their full cooperation with the military personnel during the exercise.
Road users, farms and orchard owners, and residents within the vicinity of the training areas were also advised to refrain from hunting or engaging in activities within the training zones to ensure their safety during the exercise, he added.
