KUCHING (Sept 11): The Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) Sarawak is in the process of organising the Premier of Sarawak Industry Excellence Award (PSIEA) for 2025.
According to MPC Sarawak director Dr Mazlina Shafi’i, this award has strengthened the excellence and competitiveness of organisations in Sarawak, contributing positively to the state’s economy.
“PSIEA winners will have the opportunity to represent Sarawak at the national level through the Industry Excellence Award (AKI).
“Since its inception, a total of 94 organisations of various sizes from the manufacturing and services sectors have participated in PSIEA, generating an estimated value of RM188 million,” she said during a press conference at MPC Sarawak here yesterday.
PSIEA has been held biennially since 2017, in strategic collaboration with the Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) and the Sarawak government, using the evaluation criteria from the Malaysia Business Excellence Framework (MBEF).
Mazlina highlighted that MPC will continue to promote this award and provide MBEF guidance sessions for interested organisations.
“This effort aims to broaden participation and further elevate the standards of excellence among organisations in Sarawak.
“These sessions, carefully planned to add value to all parties involved, particularly MPC, will promote initiatives and programmes that I believe will benefit organisational excellence in Sarawak,” she said.
Mazlina expressed confidence that MPC’s initiatives and programmes will achieve their objectives with strong support from all stakeholders, thereby contributing to the economic growth of both the nation and the state.
In addition, Mazlina pointed out that MPC had recently held the ‘Best Practices Sharing Session on Business Excellence (BE): Transformation towards Organisational Excellence’ programme on Monday (Sept 9), as part of its ongoing BE programmes and initiatives.
Moreover, MPC hosted a webinar session entitled ‘Introduction to Business Excellence (BE) Criteria’ today, and will also host several upcoming events, including a webinar session entitled ‘Understanding the Evaluation & Scoring Criteria of the Malaysia Business Excellence Framework (MBEF)’ in October.
Additionally, two business excellence workshops are to be held in October and November, with the former targeting practitioners and the latter, assessors.
“These programmes are designed to accelerate productivity growth in key economic sectors, focusing on initiatives that can significantly impact the operational effectiveness and competitiveness of companies,” she said.
MPC Sarawak will also implement effective measures to encourage companies in the state to adopt BE’s initiatives.
In this regard, Mazlina urged organisations that have not yet implemented BE to consider adopting the initiative, as they provide a comprehensive framework for achieving excellence in all aspects of business.
“BE helps improve competitiveness, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction, while ensuring alignment with the organisation’s strategic objectives.
“MPC Sarawak also offers facilities available for use by public or private organisations at affordable rental rates,” she said.
In efforts to raise awareness on PSIEA and the BE initiatives undertaken by MPC, Mazlina also pointed out the crucial role media agencies play in supporting these efforts.
During the press conference, representatives of media outlets were presented with tokens of appreciation for their contribution in disseminating the news of MPC’s initiatives.
Among those present were MPC Sarawak manager Hafiza Atha Ahmad and her assistant, Zuraini Subki.
