KUCHING (Sept 15): Malaysia has the potential to reclaim its place as among the ‘Tigers of Asia’ under the leadership of the Madani Government.

In stating this, Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong says with rich natural resources, strategic location and talented workforce, the country is poised to become a leader in sectors like technology, green energy and education.

“To realise this vision, it is imperative that the voices of all Malaysians are heard, and that governance is rooted in transparency, accountability and fairness,” she said in her Malaysia Day 2024 message.

“As Malaysians reflect on history, they must also look ahead and advocate for a Malaysia that rejects corruption, upholds the rule of law, and ensures equal opportunities for all its citizens.

“By doing so, we can unlock our full potential and emerge as a dynamic force in the global economy, creating prosperity that benefits every Malaysian.”

Yong also said in celebrating the nation’s diversity, all forms of extremism and divisive rhetoric that could threaten to tear at the fabric of unity, must be rejected.

“I call upon all Malaysians to respect each other’s differences and embrace the richness of our multicultural society.

“Only through mutual respect and understanding can Malaysia move forward as one, one that honours the rights and dignity of all the people,” she said.

Yong said Sept 16 not only marked the formation of Malaysia, but also the commitment to building a nation founded on justice, equality and democracy.

“As all Malaysians come together to celebrate the 61st Malaysia Day, we are reminded of the strength of our unity in diversity, and the potential of a Malaysia where every citizen regardless of race, religion, or region has an equal stake in our shared future.

“Let us observe Sept 16 with the spirit of Madani and a renewed commitment towards creating a Malaysia that truly belongs to each and every one, where no Malaysian is left behind whether in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah or Sarawak.

“Selamat Hari Malaysia,” she said.
