Malaysian Army First Infantry Division extends support to fire-affected veteran

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Personnel from the Malaysian Army First Infantry Division had visited and presented a donation to an army veteran whose house was recently damaged by fire.

The fire incident at Sergeant (Retired) Dan Koh’s house in Kampung Serpan Laut, Asajaya, occurred on July 19.

On behalf of the Malaysian Army First Infantry Division Commander Major General Datuk Mohamed Fauzi Kamis, the MAF First Infantry Division Chief of Staff Colonel Mohamed Rosly Darasid handed over financial donations and essential items to the Dan yesterday (July 20).

Also present were Staff Officer 1 Intelligence Lieutenant Colonel Chua Ray Han, Staff Officer 1 Service Corps Lieutenant Colonel Kogilabalan Nair Gunasekaran, and Royal Engineer Soldier Regiment (3 Skn RAJD) Commanding Officer Major George Paul Dalam.

MAF Veteran Affairs Department Sarawak director Major Steven Kadir also visited Dan and provided his family food aid and donations from the department’s ‘Tabung Jasamu’.

Meanwhile, Royal Military Police Corps 1st Regiment Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Amirullah Ithnain also presented a financial donation to Dan.

Malaysian Army First Infantry Division stated that their immediate response following the fire was to provide humanitarian aid, including financial support.

They added the coordinated efforts with other agencies such as JHEV and Welfare Department (JKM) were also essential to ensure smooth and effective assistance for the army veteran’s family.

Regarding the fire incident, it is believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit in the kitchen wiring.

No injuries or fatalities were reported during the incident.
