SIBU: A joint rescue effort by police and firefighters saved a 22-year-old man from a precarious position atop a water pump station beam late Sunday evening.
The rescue unfolded around 10.20 pm at the station along Jalan Khoo Peng Loong, where the man was spotted on a beam 10 metres above ground.
A spokesperson for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported that a team from the central Sibu station was swiftly deployed to the scene.
After nearly three hours of persuasion, he safely descended from the beam.
Following the successful intervention, authorities transferred the man into police custody for further assessment.
