Man injures leg after attempting to put out fire in Kpg Pulo Hulu

KUCHING (July 7): A man suffered cuts to his left leg after trying to put out a house fire which broke out at Kampung Pulo Hulu at 1.10am Sunday.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement said the man injured his leg prior to the arrival of firefighters at the scene and was sent to the Sarawak General Hospital in a Bomba ambulance.

“Firefighters from the Petra Jaya and Tabuan Jaya stations arrived at the scene at 1.20am and began to bring the fire at the double-storey house under control as well as contain the fire from spreading to adjacent houses.

“However, one adjacent house which was also a double-storey house was partially damaged due to the extreme heat from the fire,” it said.

According to a witness, the fire broke out inside one of the rooms of the first floor of the first house.

The fire was brought under control at 1.40am and the whole operations ended at 2.42am.

Bomba is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
