KUCHING (Oct 24): The Magistrates’ Court here today sentenced a man to six months in prison for retaining a stolen motorcycle.
Magistrate Ling Hui Chuan convicted Richard Embun Brundang, 26, on his own guilty plea to a charge under Section 411 of the Penal Code, and ordered his imprisonment to take effect from today.
The Section provides for a jail term that may extend to five years, or a fine, upon conviction.
According to the facts of the case, the owner of the motorcycle lodged a police report on Oct 17, 2024 after discovering the machine – parked at Jalan Daya in Taman Riverview – missing and believed stolen.
Acting on the report, police arrested Richard on Oct 20 at the roadside of Kampung Tabuan Melayu and seized a motorcycle he was riding.
Investigations found that the chassis and engine numbers of the motorcycle matched those of the one reported stolen.
