Manila to foster more business ties with Malaysia

KUCHING: Manila has given its commitment to make it easier for Malaysian companies wanting to engage in business with the Philippines.

In a statement the republic’s Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez expressed interest in fostering more Malaysian trading ventures and partnerships in the Philippines. 

In thanking Malaysia for the positive relationship between the two countries he committed to facilitating and easing processes for Malaysian companies looking to invest, conduct business, and trade in the Philippines.

He gave the undertaking following a four-eyed meeting with Malaysian Senate

President Tan Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at the 31st Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) hosted by the Philippines from Nov 23-25.

A statement from Wan Junaidi’s office today (Nov 25), stated that the meeting, held with the aim of fostering stronger ties and collaboration between Malaysia and the Philippines, delved into several key areas of mutual interest such as exploration of business ventures and partnerships, and commitment to facilitate Malaysian investments.

Wan Junaidi also commended the Philippine parliament for its notable representation of women and shared Malaysia’s forward plan to increase women’s representation in the parliament of Malaysia, expressing a commitment to fostering gender equality and inclusivity in the legislative process.

“The bilateral meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between Malaysia and the Philippines, paving the way for enhanced collaboration and mutual prosperity.

“The APPF is Asia Pacific’s premier parliamentary forum that brings together representatives of the people of 28 countries to discuss pressing political, security and socio-economic issues and challenges of common concern confronting the region,” the statement said.
