MATTA Fair winners collect travel prizes

KUCHING: Seven winners of the MATTA Fair Sarawak August 2026 lucky draw have collected their travel prizes at a ceremony here today (Sept 21).

The winners were among visitors who spent at least RM100 during the fair at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Aug 22 and 23, qualifying them for the buyers’ contest.

Ten winners were selected in total, with three others to redeem their prizes directly through the MATTA Sarawak Chapter at a later date.

The grand prize comprised two Malaysia Airlines business class return tickets from Kuching to Shenzhen.

Other prizes included two economy return tickets each to Fukuoka, Changsha, Danang and Kuala Lumpur, as well as economy return tickets from Kuching to Melbourne on Scoot and to Incheon on Royal Brunei Airlines.

MATTA Sarawak Chapter chairman Dayang Azizah Awang Zaidan said the August fair recorded an encouraging turnout and sales performance, attracting about 7,000 visitors.

“The response from visitors and buyers was very encouraging, with sales reaching RM10.5 million, surpassing the RM10.02 million recorded during the March edition,” she said.

She said the lucky draw was also part of efforts to encourage visitors to participate in the fair while rewarding buyers for their purchases.

The August edition was supported by Malaysian Airline Group (MAG) as the official airline partner and RHB Bank as the bank partner.

The prizes, involving Malaysia Airlines, Scoot and Royal Brunei Airlines, can generally be redeemed within approximately six months, subject to the respective airlines’ ticket validity and terms.
