KUCHING (Sept 24): Maxim E-hailing goes all out to ensure smooth transport service for Para Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2024’s swimming athletes.
According to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) sealed between the e-hailing operator and Sarawak Para-Swimming Association recently, the company would facilitate the movement of the para-swimmers between Batu Kawah and the Aquatic Centre of Excellence at Sarawak Youth and Sports Complex, every day throughout the duration of the Games, which ends this Saturday (Sept 28).
“Maxim E-hailing has been helping 42 athletes and officials from the association in terms of transport for them to attend the training sessions, which involve two trips per day between Batu Kawah and the aquatic center.
“Maxim has been sharing its corporate account for this purpose, and will continue to do so until the end of Para Sukma 2024, to show our support and to spread the spirit of the Games,” said the e-hailing company in a statement yesterday.
It added that its specialists took the initiative to contact the association, with the intention of collaborating with them in providing free rides to all para-swimming athletes and officials.
“Maxim E-hailing is also one of the best transportation options for individuals with disabilities, as its app has been updated to better suit their needs, and all its partner-drivers are well-trained.
“Passengers can contact their driver in chat before the trip begins and explain their situation.
“Projects like this create a strong bond between Maxim E-hailing and the people, and always have a positive impact on the society,” said the company.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson of Sarawak Para-Swimming Association expressed their deep appreciation for the assistance rendered by Maxim E-hailing.
“We need to make the daily trip, each taking 30 to 40 minutes, twice – for the morning training, and the evening one.
“Now it’s easy for us to move around because Maxim allows us to make bookings in advance and we manage to save more time.
“In addition, e-hailing is the most convenient and safe travel method because it gets you directly from one location to another,” said the spokesperson.
Meanwhile, Maxim Malaysia director Mohd Hazwan Musley said it was an honour to be able to accommodate the free rides to the Para Sukma 2024 swimmers in Sarawak.
“We believe that transportation should never be a barrier to anyone participating in community events that promote unity and celebration.
“By providing these complimentary rides, we aim to enhance accessibility and ensure that everyone can enjoy the festivities without the stress of travel.
“This initiative demonstrates our commitment to supporting the local community and contributing positively to significant occasions.
“We are honoured to be playing a role in making this event memorable for all,” he said in a statement.
