MetMalaysia: Thunderstorms, heavy rain expected in Sarawak until end of August

KUCHING (Aug 28): The central and southern parts of Sarawak are expected to experience periods of thunderstorms with heavy rain until end of this month, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

It explained that based on the analysis of weather models, wind concentration is expected to occur in both Sarawak and Sabah until Aug 31 and this situation has the potential to produce thunderstorms with heavy rain for a longer period.

“(This is expected) especially in Federal Territory of Labuan, western Sabah and central and southern Sarawak,” it said in the significant weather forecast issued at noon today.

In other states, MetMalaysia said thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds still have the potential to occur throughout the week.

MetMalaysia also advised members of the public to always refer to the department’s website and its official social media platforms as well as the myCuaca app for the latest and accurate information.
