MIRI (Aug 18): The transportation for all participants of the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma XXI) is running smoothly, thanks to the detailed planning meant to ensure that all events can proceed without any issue.

In giving this assurance, Minister of Transport Sarawak Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin says the host wants to achieve a standard that everyone can be proud of, in that the system is out to ensure that all athletes, officials and others involved can reach their respective event venues on time.

“This process involves a large number of Sukma athletes and officials. It is a challenge in terms of transportation, as it involves nine divisions across Sarawak.

“We provide transportation in all divisions so that the events can take place smoothly.

“Most importantly, those involved can arrive at their respective venues on time,” he said during a press conference here today.

He also thanked all companies and individuals involved in making the preparations possible.

“I must thank all those involved, the bus companies as well as individuals. We are not only renting buses, but also cars and other types of vehicles for the use of the officers; thus, coordination is very important.

“I was chef de mission for three times in past Sukma events – I know how important all these are,” he said further.

The press conference was held following Lee’s visit to Sukma Miri Media Centre early yesterd.

Present to greet him was the centre’s director, Rosmaini Mail.

At the same time, Lee also took the time to witness the opening of the ‘pencak silat’ event at Miri Indoor Stadium.
