MIRI (Aug 28): Two raids carried out last week saw police here seize drugs worth over RM37,000 and arrest two unemployed individuals.
Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the first raid on Aug 23 took place around 10am at a roadside hut.
“A 23-year-old man was detained after he was found in possession of five transparent plastic packets containing substance believed to be methamphetamine.
“The substance, weighing around 7.71g, is estimated to be worth RM850,” he said in a statement today.
Alexson said the second raid, involving the arrest of a 37-year-old man, took place the next day at a parking area around 9am.
“A search of a bag in the suspect’s possession found a packet inside containing substance, also believed to be methamphetamine, weighing 1.04kg and worth an estimated RM36,400.
“Additionally, police also seized a car valued at RM8,500 belonging to the suspect,” he said.
He said both suspects are currently under a seven-day remand to facilitate further investigation under Section 39B and Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
