Miri hawker stalls destroyed in early morning fire

MIRI (Sept 2): Seven hawker’s stalls at Morsjaya here were completely destroyed in a fire in the wee hours today.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they were notified about the incident at 4.12am and 12 firefighters from Lopeng fire station were despatched to the scene.

“When they arrived, all seven wooden stalls had been completely destroyed.

“Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident,” it added.

Bomba said the firefighters managed to extinguish the fire and wrapped up the operation after ensuring the situation was safe.

The cause and total losses incurred in the fire are still under investigation.
