MIRI (Oct 23): A police raid on a nightspot here Monday night resulted in the arrest of a man and seizure of ecstasy and Erimin 5 pills.
Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the 11.45pm raid was jointly carried out by the state and district police headquarters following information received.
“The raiding party first seized a bag from the suspect which was found to contain packets labelled as ‘mixed fruit juice’ which are suspected to contain ecstasy in powder form, weighing an estimated 38.90 grammes.
“Further inspections led to the discovery of more of such packets weighing 1.96kg, as well as Erimin 5 pills weighing 20.9 grammes,” he said in a statement, adding the drugs were worth an estimated RM4,391.40.
Alexson said police also seized a car belonging to the suspect valued at RM25,000 as part of the investigation.
The case is being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, including Section 39B for drug trafficking.
“The suspect has been remanded for seven days to facilitate further investigation,” said Alexson.
He also called on the public to continue channelling information on drug-related activities to the police.
