MIRI (Nov 2): The Miri Welfare Department and Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri branch gave aid to a family of three who were left with nothing but clothes on their back after their house at Kampung Damai Jaya was blazed down in a fire on Oct 31.

State Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin who visited the victims on Friday thanked the immediate relief assistance from the agencies.

“Upon hearing the incident, I immediately requested the Welfare Department and MRC Miri to arrange some basic necessities to support the victims.

“I have also arranged financial assistance from my Senadin Service Centre to the mother, as a small gesture to help them during this difficult time,” he said during the visit, where he met the 49-year-old mother who is a widow at the scene to handover the assistance.

The Piasau assemblyman also took the opportunity to thank Bomba personnel of the Lutong fire station for the fast response in putting out the fire, and expressed his relief that the occupants were not in the house when the fire occurred.
