SIBU, July 15: A total of RM14,000 in cash prizes await the eight best contestants of the Miss Borneo Dayak Cultural Festival (BDCF) 2024 competition this August.
The competition, organised in conjunction with the BCF this year, will be held at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang Phase I.
According to the chairperson of the Miss BDCF 2024 organising committee, Senorita Salleh, this competition is open to single Dayak girls within the country aged 18 to 30 only.
“Additionally, the contestant must have a height of at least five feet and two inches,” she said today.
She said all participants will be required to go through a screening process first to select participants to advance to the final night, which will be held on August 15.
On the final night, all contestants are required to wear traditional Iban clothing, which is the ‘Ngepan Iban’, as their main costume.
“Miss BDCF 2024 will take home RM5,000 in cash with a crown, sash, trophy, hamper, and flowers, followed by the runner-up who will receive RM3,000 with a sash, trophy, and hamper, while third place will take home RM2,000 with a sash, trophy, and hamper,” Senorita said.
As for those in fourth to eighth place, each will receive RM800 as a consolation prize.
“Each participant will be charged RM50 each as a registration fee. The closing date for participation is August 3,” she said.
The competition is organised by the Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) Sibu in collaboration with the Sibu Municipal Council (MPS).
