THE Sarawak government will conduct a pay rise review for state civil servants, to make their salaries more competitive.
This follows a recent announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that the Federal Government would increase the salary of federal civil servants by more than 13 percent, starting from December this year.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) welcomed this announcement and assured that Sarawak will also adjust its civil servants’ pay.
“This is because the GPS government greatly appreciates the commitments and sacrifices of all Sarawak civil servants.
“For now, we are conducting a detailed study on this adjustment so that it is more competitive in line with the duties and responsibilities of the civil servants as well as the financial strength of the Sarawak government,” said Abang Johari during his winding up speech at the Legislative Assembly sitting on today (May 15).
He added the results of this study would be announced in the near future subject to the details of the salary adjustment that will be released by the federal government which is expected to be known only in the federal Budget 2025 expected to be tabled in October this year.
