Mukah man in his 80s missing after speedboat crashes into boat

MUKAH (Sept 2): A search and rescue (SAR) operation has been launched to find an elderly man in his 80s, who is feared to have drowned, after a speedboat hit his boat and caused him to fall into Batang Oya.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported that the incident occurred at 9.42am today, approximately 39km from Dalat Waterfront.

Initial information about the incident was received by the Mukah fire station from the Dalat District police headquarters.

According to Bomba, a collision occurred between a speedboat and a boat in an area between Kampung Sua and Kampung Klid.

“The victim, identified as Dos Katek from Kampung Klid Dalat, was struck by the front of the speedboat, causing him to fall into the river,” Bomba added.
