KUCHING, Sept 11: Kuching Intercultural Mooncake Festival has returned for its 21st edition, running from Sept 7 to Sept 17, 2024, along the historic Carpenter Street and Ewe Hai Street in downtown Kuching City.
The festival, held from 5pm onwards daily, has become a beloved tradition that unites people of all races, cultures, and walks of life in celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
What began as a Chinese cultural celebration has transformed into a true intercultural event, reflecting the diverse and harmonious spirit of Kuching.
While the Mooncake Festival is rooted in Chinese customs, many non-Chinese locals not only attend but actively participate as vendors, performers, and competition participants.
Of course, food is a major highlight of the festival. Visitors can indulge in an array of local delicacies, including mooncakes in various flavours, street food, and unique fusion dishes.
With vendors lining the streets, the aroma of freshly cooked food fills the air, enticing festival-goers at every turn.
As the festival runs late into the night, it is advised that attendees wear comfortable attire and shoes to fully enjoy the experience of strolling through the scenic, lantern-lit streets.
Whether you’re there to sample the food, enjoy the performances, or simply soak in the lively atmosphere, the Kuching Intercultural Mooncake Festival offers something for everyone.
