KUCHING, Sept. 17: MyOil and e-Fishing systems play an important role in ensuring fuel subsidies for fishermen are channelled to the eligible groups, as well as reducing the risk of misuse.
Deputy Minister of Internal Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said the strict procedures were implemented through Integrated Ops Tiris 3.0 to curb misuse as well as fuel subsidies provided by the government for fishermen.
"First, involving quotas, it cannot exceed the quota of a single boat. Then, the app is used to check how many quotas are out for a month. There is also a facial makeup, to ensure that only those who qualify can buy the fuel allocated", he said.
He said this to the media during a working visit at the Diesel Sales Centre (PJD), Regional Fisheries Association (PNK) in Tanjung Bako Port, here today.
According to Fuziah, fuel quotas are set based on the capacity of the boat's engines, with a maximum volume ranging from 500 to 17,000 litres per month depending on the engine capacity.
"The quota will be granted on request. Both (diesel and petrol). LKIM will decide, but we make sure that the order is under the Supply Control Act", he said.
He said that Sarawak has 17 PJDs including in Tanjung Bako which implement strict procedures to ensure government subsidies are properly utilized.
According to him, the fuel is also channeled directly into the fiber without using containers or intermediate vessels to reduce the risk of constipation along the supply chain.
"Extremely strict procedures, to ensure that government subsidies given by the government are properly used in the best possible way", he explained.
Meanwhile, Fuziah said the KPDN will conduct an investigation if it receives information from the public or informants regarding any fuel spill involving fishermen.
