MIRI (Aug 20): The National Sports Council (MSN) is closely observing the Malaysia Games (Sukma) athletes’ performances, and those who are doing exceptionally well will be brought in for national-level training.

In stating this, MSN director Abdul Rashid Yaakub says he has also noticed that several Sukma and national records have been broken in this edition of the Games, indicating that the athletes are performing really well.

“MSN wants to bring all these athletes in to polish them, and if they do well enough, they may even be able to represent our country in the Olympics.

“In fact, athletes who perform well are actually fulfilling the core objective of Sukma, which is to discover more young talents in sports,” he said when met during a visit to Miri Sukma Media Centre at Miri Stadium today.

Abdul Rashid said despite some additional issues related to the result protest, he was happy that Sukma XXI events had been running smoothly, and ‘that everything had been resolved’.
