SIBU: Members of Komuniti Madani should not expect rewards for their involvement in activities.
Komuniti Madani Durin Chairman Datuk Teo Boon Siew said every member should instead embrace the spirit of volunteerism in supporting the government’s agenda for the community.
“This is our responsibility as members, without expecting a salary or reward. What is important is that the goals of Komuniti Madani can be carried out as effectively as possible,” he said.
Teo made these remarks at the New Year 2024 celebration dinner organised by Komuniti Madani Norkiah and Komuniti Madani Durin Bazaar on Friday (Jan 19).
He expressed hope that all Komuniti Madani members would collaborate to ensure they can assist and advocate for community issues.
Meanwhile, Sibu District Information Officer Zaini Morshidi disclosed that a total of 18 Komuniti Madani had been established in Sibu since its launch last year.
He said that three Komuniti Madani were created in each of the five state constituencies, namely Dudong, Pelawan, Bukit Assek, Nangka, Bawang Assan, including the Empawah area.
“Previously, it was known as Komuniti Keluarga Malaysia before the name was changed to Komuniti Madani last year,” he added.
Zaini said that the Komuniti Madani would soon receive their respective certificates and an allocation of RM3,000 for funding their activities, along with another RM3,000 for management purposes.
He added that the purpose of establishing this Komuniti Madani is to conduct community activities in their respective areas or districts.
“After receiving the letter of appointment and allocation, the Komuniti Madani can carry out its activities based on community needs,” he said.
