KUCHING (July 5): The Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) will closely monitor all projects funded by its grants, pledged new director Datuk Georgina Apphia Ngau.

Following a courtesy call today on Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is minister in charge, Georgina promised to monitor the implementation of Unifor projects at various houses of worship.

“All upgrading or construction projects and others have to be completed properly and meet the completion schedule,” she said in a press statement.

She said Uggah also called on her to assess the actual cost of projects requested to avoid any issue of over-estimation.

Georgina added her new responsibilities include finding ways and means to preserve as well as further strengthen existing solid inter-religious and interracial unity and harmony in Sarawak.

The former Registrar of Societies Sarawak director assumed her new role on July 1.

She takes over from Datu Jack Aman, who has moved to another government agency.

Georgina has served in many senior positions in various federal departments and the National Anti-Drug Agency.
