SIBU: The Jerwit Neighbourhood Committee (KRT Jerwit) has been recently established, with Iing Shii Ngie, a professional architect, appointed as its chairman.
The letter of approval for its estabishment was issued by Sibu Division National Unity officer Siti Nurfatimah Hussen during the first board of directors’ meeting on Wednesday (Jan 31).
With its establishment, KRT Jerwit becomes the 95th KRT formed in the Sibu area, with the aim to work with the Bureau and residents in the area to promote community unity.
Siti said all members of the KRT, including the directors, must contribute to the community.
She hoped that KRT Jerwit will organise 12 events every year, preferably one event every month.
“Of course, it is also better to organise activities with other KRTs, local leaders and non-governmental organisations. With the establishment of KRT Jerwit, we can promote the spirit of unity among all ethnic groups. This is the work encouraged by the Solidarity Bureau.
“I am confident the KRT Jerwit led by Iing will carry out various activities to promote unity, safety, health, cleanliness, beautification and environmental harmony in the Jerwit area including neighbouring areas, so that more residents can participate,” she added.
The list for other KRT Jerwit’s board of directors for year term 2024-2025 are Dixon Chiu Kuong Woo as the vice-chairman, Ngu Nguong Ying (secretary), Daniel Lim Chuong Wee (assistant secretary) and Tang Kie Seng (treasurer).
The board members are Choo Siew Hung, Lo Ming Jun,Sabrinas Teo, Preston Lee Ting Bing,Tiong Guang Yung, Pang Boon Soon, Chew Kong Ang, Wong Kee Ngiu, Kiu Ming Teck, Francis Chiong Wei Ee, Jacky Kong, Margarete Jenny Thomas, Vanesea Henry Engga, Wong Yi Ting and Lau Chu Kings.
