BINTULU: A total of 291 athletes from the northern zone will participate in the 3rd Edition of the Sarawak Games (SUKSAR), set to take place in Sibu from January 15 to 18.
The sports in which they will compete include weightlifting, cycling, basketball, volleyball, futsal, hockey, judo, karate, silat, sepak takraw, boxing, and wushu.
Bintulu Resident Nyurak Keti advised all athletes representing the northern zone to maintain discipline to uphold the team’s good reputation.
“Maintain discipline when socialising as well as during training or matches. The athletes representing the northern zone must also respect each other, including their respective secretariat and coaches,” he said during the SUKSAR Northern Zone flag handing-over ceremony at the Bintulu Auditorium on Saturday.
Nyurak added that Sarawak’s athletes should be emulated, as they have brought fame to the state at national and international levels.
Also present were Miri Deputy Resident Juan Ubit and the Limbang Resident representative, Awangku Mohd Shahrizan Manizan Awgku Maidin.
