MIRI (Oct 8): Supt Nurashyikin Abdullah has taken over as Miri deputy police chief, making her the first woman appointed to the position.

Nurashyikin received her duties from DSP Nor Aizan Mohd Jamil, who has been promoted to Marudi police chief.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the handing over of duties ceremony was held at Miri District police headquarters (IPD) on Oct 7.

“Nurashyikin was previously a crime analysis and data collection officer at the Crime Prevention Department of Sarawak police headquarters (IPK),” he said in a statement yesterday.

Alexson added that the function also saw Nor Aizan handing over his duties as head of the Divisional Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKK) to DSP Sila Kadong, who had been transferred from IPD Limbang.

Sila was previously Limbang deputy police chief.

Meanwhile, ASP Marry Ong also handed over her duty as head of Miri Amanita to Nurashyikin.
