KUCHING: OceanMight Sdn Bhd (OMSB), the Oil & Gas Unit and subsidiary of KKB Engineering Berhad, recently achieved a historic milestone with the successful sail away of the MLNG FaS projects recently.
According to OMSB in a statement on Thursday (Aug 15), the MLNG FaS projects, which comprise three topsides and three sub-structures for F22, F27, and Selasih, are a development under the MLNG PSC, with Sarawak Shell Berhad (SSB) as the operator holding 40 per cent equity, PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB) (40 per cent), and Petroleum Sarawak Exploration & Production Sdn Bhd (PSEP) (20 per cent).
They added that the first Sarawak Shell Berhad project for the provision of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) of Standard Wellhead Platforms for the MLNG FaS (F27, F22, and Selasih) Gas Field Development project was awarded to OceanMight Sdn Bhd on Dec 20, 2022, and started its first steel cut on April 12, 2023.
“The three Wellhead Platforms combined weigh more than 5,700 metric tons and were fabricated at the OceanMight Fabrication Yard at Jalan Bako, Kuching, Sarawak,” they added.
OceanMight was licensed by Petronas in 2013. Since 2014, over the last 10 years, it has competitively tendered for work both locally and overseas, and has been awarded a total of 17 projects, 15 of which have been completed safely and successfully handed over to clients, with two currently in progress.
“As of 2024, all mentioned projects completed successfully (and ongoing ones) have recorded a total of over 9.7 million man-hours with ZERO Lost Time Injuries (LTI),” they said.
Meanwhile, the group managing director of KKB Engineering Berhad and director of OceanMight, Kho Pok Tong, said that OceanMight is especially proud to have a committed team and workforce of around 1,600 personnel, which made this meaningful milestone possible.
“90 per cent of the workforce are skilled Sarawakians. This celebration underscores our unwavering commitment to fostering a workplace culture that prioritises the wellbeing of our employees, safeguards the environment, and promotes sustainable practices in our operations.
“OceanMight’s workforce comprises Sarawakians who have done the region proud, demonstrating that a local content workforce has the capability and work ethic to complete the MLNG FaS project on time,” he said.
