One dead, one injured after being thrown out of car in Jalan Song-Kapit crash

KUCHING, July 7: A man was killed while another was injured after the Perodua Bezza they were travelling in crashed off the road and landed about 20 metres into a bushy area along the Engkabau stretch of Jalan Song-Kapit today.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Song responded to the emergency at about 3.40pm and immediately dispatched a team led by Operation Commander PBK I Peter Jinang to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters found both victims had been thrown out of the vehicle during the crash.

One of the victims was found trapped underneath the bonnet area of the car, while the other was located about one metre away.

Firefighters used an air lifting bag to lift the vehicle and create space to carry out the rescue operation. The trapped victim was successfully removed and handed over to Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel for transportation to Song Health Clinic.

However, the second victim, who was wearing a black shirt and brown trousers, was confirmed dead at the scene and later handed over to the police.

The rescue operation concluded at 4.23pm. — DayakDaily
