Over 3,000 join Miri Division Maulidur Rasul procession

MIRI (Sept 17): A total of 3,159 Muslims took part in the Miri Division Maulidur Rasul procession yesterday.

The 50 contingents comprised government agencies, statutory bodies, financial institutions, private firms, mosques, associations, and schools.

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni led the procession, which began from the Miri Civic Centre.

In his remarks, Lukanisman called for Sarawakians to preserve unity among the state’s multiracial groups.

“The main key for Sarawak to prosper is to maintain unity. Prophet Muhammad SAW has shown strong unity among his followers, even though they come from different backgrounds.

“We too must maintain the unity that we have in Sarawak irrespective of our race and religion,” he said.

According to the Sibuti MP, Sarawak will be able to build a stronger, more stable, and harmonious state with unity.

Additionally, he said values ​​such as trust, integrity, and justice, which are the core of Prophet Muhammad’s teachings, should be used as a guide for development.

“We need to strive to develop Sarawak by sticking to these values, so that the progress achieved really benefits everyone, and is blessed by Allah SWT,” he said.

Nurul Jamilun Subhi Kampung Pujut Adong mosque emerged the overall champion in the divisional-level Maulidur Rasul procession.

In the B category (higher learning institutions/skills centre), Sarawak Skills Miri finished first, while the Teachers Education Institute (IPG) Miri Campus and Curtin University took second and third place respectively.

In the C category (department, government agencies, and statutory bodies), Miri Immigration Department emerged champion, while Miri Central Prison and Miri Customs Department came in second and third.

As for the mosque and surau under the D category, Nurul Jamilun Subhi Kampung Pujut Adong mosque was the winner, followed by Darul Ehsan Piasau Jaya mosque and An Nur Kampung Pujut Tanjung Batu mosque in second and third place.

In the E category (private firms/organisations), Badan Kebajikan Islam Petronas PCSB SKA was the winner, while in second and third place were Laku Management Sdn Bhd and Wehaya Sdn Bhd respectively.

For the village, association, club, and hadrah group category, Persatuan Kedayan Miri finished first, while Pekida Miri and Petubuhan Kebajikan Dangsanak Limbang Miri came in second and third.

The winner for each category received RM2,000, while those who placed second and third received RM1,500 and RM1,000.
