Over 500 join ‘Fun Ride’ in Bintulu in conjunction with Sarawak Day 2024

BINTULU (July 22): Over 500 participants took part in the ‘Fun Ride’ event, a leisurely cycling activity, to mark the celebration of Sarawak Day 2024 in Bintulu.

The ‘Fun Ride’ participants were flagged-off by Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development, who is also the Minister Responsible for Sarawak Day 2024 Celebrations Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, at the Dewan Suarah Bintulu compound.

Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat, who participated in the event, completed the ride in one hour.

He was awarded a medal by the director of the Sarawak Youth and Sports Department, Lamat Nyalau.

Dr Ripin expressed his delight at the lively atmosphere of the event, noting the participation of foreign cyclists.

“Today’s ‘Fun Ride’ for Sarawak Day is very lively, with over 500 participants covering a distance of nearly 15 kilometres. There were also foreign participants,” he said during a media interview after the event.

He emphasised that the event serves as an excellent recreational programme to promote a healthy lifestyle among the people of Sarawak.

The event also featured an aerobics session led by coach Siti Nor Ziema from the Bintulu Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Among those present at the event were Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming, Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, Bintulu Division Resident Nyurak Keti, and various department heads.
