KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Samarahan International Bike Fest (SIBF), which ended today, attracted over 8,000 participants from all over Borneo as well as West Malaysia, and Indonesia.
It was a gathering of high-powered motorcycle enthusiasts.
According to Muara Tuang assemblyman, Datuk Idris Buang, one of the objectives of the event was to position Kota Samarahan as a socio-economic hub to promote domestic and international tourism activities, known not only within the state but throughout Malaysia.
“This event not only celebrates our passion for big bike motorcycles but also unites us in the spirit of unity and cooperation.
“Through this event, we can demonstrate that the biker community in Samarahan, the rest of the state, and even from abroad is one big family that respects and supports each other,” he said.
He spoke at the opening of the International Bike Fest at the open area of Lepapa Kota Samarahan here.
“Events like this benefit participants physically and foster a spirit of unity among us,” he added.
Idris added the event was also an opportunity to showcase the beauty and potential of the Samarahan area as a tourism and sports destination.
“I hope all visitors will take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy a fun experience and build closer relationship with the local community,” he said.
Of the over 8,000 participants, 3,000 were from Sarawak, 200 from Sabah, 200 from Brunei, 50 from Labuan, 400 from Indonesia, and 4,000 from Peninsular Malaysia.
Participants from 30 small motorcycle clubs in Kuching and Samarahan also joined the bike fest.
