LUNDU: The participation of Kelab Malaysiaku members, including students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Lundu, in patriotic programmes has sparked a patriotic spirit and deepened the love for the nation among the youth.

SMK Lundu principal Mohamad Azizan Madihi thanked the Department of Information Malaysia (JAPEN) Sarawak for organising the programme, which was held at Dewan Sri Pakma, SMK Lundu yesterday (Sept 11).

The Jiwa Madani @ Kelab Malaysiaku and Pentarama X Kelab Malaysiaku programmes, organised by JAPEN Sarawak, play a crucial role in providing students with knowledge and insights related to national affairs.

Lundu District information officer Juliana Abdullah said despite the easy availability of information through social media, the programme aims to share updated information with students in a more personal, face-to-face setting.

“This face-to-face engagement is also intended to reinvigorate patriotic values and ensure the spirit of national pride remains strong in the minds of young people, especially students.

“Today’s programme marks a new approach by the Department of Information in educating and raising awareness among students on the importance of patriotism,” she said during the event.

She said the programme also serves as a platform for JAPEN to encourage the hoisting of the Jalur Gemilang, while boosting community participation in celebrating National Month.

Juliana further called on everyone to support the ‘One House, One Jalur Gemilang’ campaign (1R1JG) as a way to express love and patriotism for Malaysia.

For the record, the event attracted 1,500 people, including students and teachers of SMK Lundu, with activities such as the recitation of the Rukun Negara pledge, a national quiz, and performances by Pentarama artists.

Meanwhile, the PENTARAMA X Kelab Malaysiaku programme has been held in 10 schools in the state, with SMK Lundu being the eighth.

Also present were Lundu deputy district education officer Wan Sekaran, assistant information director and head of the Kelab Malaysiaku branch of the Sarawak Information Department Izawati Eni, and Kelab Malaysiaku assistant coordinator Erina Aisyah Abdullah.
