BINTULU: Tanjong Batu Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) branch is banking on newly-minted Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee to offer much-needed leadership among the Malay community there.
On its part the party branch will do all it can to help him carry out his duties, assured branch chief Haidar Khan Asghar Khan.
He is also confident that Iskandar’s experience as a former senior government official will help him as a representative of the people.
“We lack leadership especially in the Malay community so I believe, he (Iskandar) can play a big role and can be someone we can all rely on,” he said at the Tanjong Batu PBB dinner and the inauguration of the Tanjong Batu Protem Youth here, last night.
In addition, Haidar also asked the Jepak assemblyman to invite PBB Tanjong Batu members including Samalaju and other friends of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to participate in any kind of programme that will be implemented by the PBB Jepak committee in the future.
“Based on my experience at the Bintulu Development Board (BDA) I see that when there is collaboration and cooperation among many agencies we can implement, small programmes can become big, big programmes can succeed very well, ” he added.
Tanjong Batu assemblyman, Johnny Pang, Tanjong Batu PBB deputy chief, Sophie Sharie, Sarawak State PBB Youth Exco and Tanjong Batu PBB Youth chief, Lykarto Sikong, Sarawak State PBB Women’s Exco and Jepak PBB Women’s chief, Noriha Ali were also present.
