KAPIT (Sept 4): PBH Asset Management Sdn Bhd has been appointed to carry out maintenance work on the Pan Borneo Highway.
The contract valued at RM69,248,876.40 is for a period of three years.
Minister of Works Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi handed over the Letter of Acceptance (SST) to PBH Asset Management in Kuala Lumpur today.
Nanta said construction on the Pan Borneo Highway started in 2015 with a total of 11 packages covering 829.4km, where the first package from Telok Melano to Semantan was completed in 2019.
He explained that packages completed earlier, where the Defect Liability Period has expired, will be handed over to PBH Asset Management Sdn Bhd.
“I want to emphasise that this road maintenance work involves public facilities and certainly it involves the interests of the people.
“Therefore, I would like to remind PBH Asset Management Sdn Bhd to ensure the delivery of quality services according to the specifications and the conditions as per listed in the contract agreement,” said Nanta.
He called on PBH Asset Management Sdn Bhd to appreciate the contract and provide the best services to meet the expectations of the ministry and benefit the people.
The company has been appointed to carry out maintenance work consisting of routine work throughout the year, periodic work pavement, non-pavement periodic works, and emergency works according to approval from time to time.
Nanta also said the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak has been appointed the federal government’s representative for the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak’s road maintenance.
JKR Sarawak will be the Ministry of Works’ strategic partner and act on behalf of the federal government on matters related to operation, maintenance, and supervision, as well as implementation of works to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions listed in the contract.
