KUCHING, Dec 4: Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Youth describes Kedah Menteri Besar as “blinkered” and “a political saboteur of Malaysia Madani”.

Its chief, David Yeo Ang Lim, said following Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s working visit to Sadao, Thailand, on Nov 27, Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohd Sanusi Nor had launched his diatribe at Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, referring the latter derogatorily as a “tokong perut buncit” or “pot-bellied deity”.

“The Kedah MB is out of his mind and absolutely politically blinkered,” said Yeo in a statement on his social media page.

Yeo pointed out that the Prime Minister’s delegation was dealing with multiple facets of Malaysia-Thai cooperation, including tourism, and it was odd that Mohd Sanusi would even question Tiong’s involvement in the meeting.

To Yeo, the fact that Mohd Sanusi then flippantly demanded feedback from tourism-related discussions showed the latter’s lack of political tact.

“The PM, as head of the delegation, would know best to initiate such discussions. Why is Kedah MB in such a hurry?”

“I am quite appalled by his words and demeanour. For him to make fun of another’s religion and hurl insults at the expense of a current cabinet minister is wholly embarrassing and unbecoming of a Menteri Besar,” said Yeo.

He held that Sanusi must respect the tenets of Malaysia Madani as it underscores the pragmatism and soft power of the country.

To him, soft skills are one area the Kedah MB would do well to improve.

“Kedah MB’s track record of dallying with the 3Rs is worrisome; I invite him to learn about racial and religious tolerance and harmony in Sarawak, a real testament towards what is achieved by GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) under our YAB Premier (Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri) Abang Jo’s (Johari Openg) leadership,” said Yeo. — DayakDaily
