SIBU (Aug 14): Sarawak lost 0-1 to Perak in their opening Group D football match of the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma) at Mukah Stadium on Monday.

Sarawak players returned after the interval but, despite putting their best foot forward, could not penetrate the Perak defence.

Sarawak Sukma football officer Ajis said the boys played well and displayed strong physical and mental strength.

“Our boys created more chances but just failed to convert them into goals,” he added.

Sarawak will take on Kuala Lumpur today (Aug 14) followed by another group match against Pahang on Aug 16. Both matches kick off at 4pm.

Meanwhile, FT edged Pahang 1-0, Selangor beat Negeri Sembilan 2-0, Johor pip Terengganu 1-0 while Penang and Melaka fought to a coreless draw in other group matches.

Other matches today will see Negri Sembilan taking on Kelantan at 4pm at Stadium Azam Hashim while Johor will face Sabah at 4pm at Stadium Tun Zaidi.
