SIBU (July 19): Performers from eight countries will be in Sibu for the Borneo Puppet Clown Story Carnival 2024, taking place from Aug 12 until 14.
According to organising chairman Ling How Kang, the performers are from Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Japan and Italy.
“Throughout this event, organised by Lions Club of Sibu Seduan, the performers will visit nine government schools, two kindergartens as well as other communities, such as Peryatim, Methodist Children’s Home and Agape Centre in the morning.
“Running from 2pm until 4pm, there will be workshops on puppet-making, clown balloon-twisting and story-telling techniques at Wisma Sanyan, and from 7pm until 9pm, the performers will be putting on a show at the same venue.
“Teachers and other members of the public are encouraged to participate,” he told a press conference today.
Admission is free but it is limited to 60 pax only.
Ling added the performers also received a special invitation from Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) to perform at the Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) stage on Aug 12.
He also said the event received support from the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak together with Wisma Sanyan and AmCorp as corporate partners.
