KUCHING: Two more medals, one gold and one silver, were contributed by the Sarawak petanque team to Bumi Kenyalang in the men’s triples category and the mixed triples category (consisting of one man and two women) today (Aug 22).
The fifth gold medal for the petanque team was achieved in the men’s triples event, represented by Abdul Harith Oris, Aniq Asyraff Mohamad Hafizul, and Farid Amirul Muhamad.
The host team successfully defeated Kelantan with a score of 10-5, resulting in Kelantan being awarded the silver medal, and the Johor team winning the bronze.
Meanwhile, the petanque team’s success continued in the mixed triples event, where Ain Afzan Aisyah Ezlan, Akhtar Shauqi Aini Mohd Dom, and Nur Durratul Sahira Yazit won a silver medal.
Sabah managed to secure the gold medal for the event after defeating Sarawak with a score of 10-7, while Johor secured the bronze medal.
For the record, the Petanque team has contributed five golds and three silvers to Sarawak in the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA) this year.
Two more categories are yet to be contested, namely the women’s and men’s team events, which will conclude tomorrow.
