SIBU (Oct 21): The first phase of the road construction project of Jalan Sungai Bidut/Kampung Tutus/Kampung Sebedil/Kampung Bungan Kecil, spanning 23km and costing RM104 million, has been completed.
In announcing this, Bawang Assan assemblyman Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh said that Jalan Kut Muara/Sungai Pinang/Bungan Besar along the Igan River is also in the pipeline for road construction works.
“I would like to thank the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Sarawak government for carrying out these projects in my constituency. I will do my best to improve the general livelihood of the people.
“Now that I am part of GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak), I will do my best to solve some of the basic needs and fundamental requirements of the people such as clean water and electricity supply, road connectivity, and internet coverage.
“Let us all rally behind the visionary leadership of our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Open for a better future,” said Wong, who is also Progressive Democratic Party senior vice-president.
He said this when speaking at Persatuan Tuai Rumah Sibu’s (PTRS) ‘Sukaneka’ event here on Sunday.
Wong added that as part of the GPS government, he is entitled to Minor Rural Project, Rural Transformation Programme, and Sarawak House Improvement for the Poor Programme grants meant to aid his constituents.
Speaking on PTRS, he described it as an important organisation.
“You are the leaders of the Iban community here in Sibu. You must meet regularly to discuss the problems and issued faced by the community.
“You are also encouraged to discuss social, economic, and even political issues affecting the Bawang Assan constituency, as well as Sarawak as whole,” he said.
