“In the first raid at a premises along Jalan Stampin Timur, police arrested a 22-year-old local man. A second raid at a house along Jalan Bako led to the arrest of another local man aged 24.

“Both suspects were found to be in possession of suspected cannabis weighing 2,153.43 grammes, with an estimated street value of RM6,000.

“Police also seized a BMW car valued at about RM40,000, believed to have been acquired through drug-related activities,” he said in a statement today.

Preliminary urine tests conducted on both suspects returned negative results. A background check showed that the first suspect had no prior criminal record, while the second suspect had one previous offence record.

Both men have been remanded for seven days from June 26 to July 2, 2026, under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code to assist investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment upon conviction, along with a mandatory minimum of 12 strokes of the cane.

Alexson said the success of the operation was the result of continuous intelligence work and cooperation from the public.

He stressed that police will not compromise with any individuals involved in drug trafficking activities, adding that possession, distribution, or concealment of drugs remains a serious offence under Malaysian law.

“The Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department remains committed to combating drug-related crimes to safeguard the well-being of present and future generations. Drugs are the nation’s number one enemy,” he said.
