Police prepare 559-strong force for Global Muslim Business Forum security

KUCHING: In preparation for the upcoming Global Muslim Business Forum (GMBF), Sarawak police are set to deploy a substantial force of 559 personnel dedicated to security and crowd control duties.

This deployment comprises 70 senior officers and 489 junior officers drawn from various departments and branches within the Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK).

During a press conference, Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata assured that all personnel are fully prepared and entrusted with their respective assignments in this operation codenamed ‘Ops Dagang’.

“To ensure the smooth execution of security measures during this forum and prevent any disruptions to public order, Sarawak IPK has mobilised 559 police officers for various assignments.

“It will include security control over VVIPs and the public, traffic management, and contingency plans for untoward incidents,” he stated at Sarawak IPK here today (Nov 27).

Dignitaries anticipated to attend the forum include Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Republic of Indonesia vice-president Prof Dr Ma’ruf Amin and his wife Wury Ma’ruf Amin, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, along with ministers and ambassadors from local and foreign nations.

In light of this, the community is urged to cooperate fully to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the event.

The forum is scheduled to take place from Nov 28 to 30 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching.

A total of 718 participants, including moderators and speakers from 48 countries spanning the European continent, North America, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Oceania, are expected to attend this forum.
