KUCHING, Sept. 18: Police seized various drugs worth an estimated RM17.2 million through two separate operations in Kuching and Limbang on September 11 and 14.
Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Managing Director Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah who is also the Sarawak Police Commissioner said that the robbery was a joint operation with Bukit Aman and Sarawak's JSJN.
He said in the first operation on Sept. 11, a local 39-year-old man was detained at a home in Kuching.
"As a result of the raid, police seized 107,518 kilograms (kg) of drugs consisting of 50.1 kg MDMA powder, 32.3 kg ketamine, 25 kg MDMA liquid and 0.118 kg Erimin 5 pills.
"The seized drugs are estimated to be worth RM12.89 million. The syndicate is believed to have been active since July 2026 and used a terraced house as a location for processing, packaging and storing drugs before being distributed around Kuching", he said.
Mohamad Zainal said the suspect's urine filter tested positive for methamphetamine/amphetamine, and the man was confined for seven days from noon to tomorrow, to help with the investigation.
Meanwhile, in the second operation on Sept. 14, a 23-year-old man was arrested at Mendamit Road, Balance.
"In the raid, police seized 84.07 kg of drugs comprising 81.21 kg of soap, 2.06 kg of ketamine and 0.80 kg of MDMA powder, with an estimated total value of RM4.3 million.
"The syndicate is believed to have been active since November 2025 and used four-wheeled racing vehicles to transport drug supplies from Miri to Sabah by road. The suspects were detained for seven days from September 15 to 22 to assist with the investigation", he said.
Both cases are under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
