MUKAH (Nov 22): The Sarawak Poor Home Improvement Programme (PPRMS) has greatly changed the lives of people, especially the poor, said Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad.
He said with the repairs carried out, the houses of those categorised as poor no longer leak when it rains.
“Now that the rainy season has arrived, many of those we have helped say that their homes no longer leak like before,” he said during his visit to several PPRMS houses in Daro recently.
Safiee said a total of 41 houses have been repaired under the first phase of PPRMS in Daro this year.
“Apart from repairing leakages and dilapidated structures on houses, some critical and urgent matters are also taken into consideration in the selection of houses for the project,” he said.
He said added since 2018, a total of 571 houses in Daro have been repaired under PPRMS.
“This also means that at least 571 families have been directly assisted by the state government in improving their quality of life,” he added.
During the visit, Safiee together with Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Daro Youth and PBB Women ‘Skuad Kasih Sayang’ members, distributed food baskets to the villagers.
