KUCHING: Education is one of the most important ingredients that makes a person and shapes the community.
In stating this, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said how great, strong and successful a society is, lies with one of the most vital elements that binds everything together – quality education.
“A nation can never move forward without meticulously dwelling and considering what nourishes the minds of the future generations.
“Thus, the Sarawak government is fully committed to building its education sector in terms of its development,” he said.
He said in his speech read by Deputy Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee during the Lodge Group of Schools’ platinum jubilee celebration dinner and concert at Imperial Hotel here on Saturday (Nov 11).
Abang Johari also said the Sarawak government is ambitious and proactive about the state’s digital future.
“The decisions we make today will impact the lives of present and future generations, and our planet as a whole.
“We believe that a digital future is the way forward, and our goal is to be a leading digital economy and digital society by 2030,” he said.
On Lodge Group of Schools, he said the establishment of the Lodge community 70 years ago has had much impact not only in the lives of its students, teachers, parents, administrators but also the local community.
“Lodge has also successfully produced impressive and admirable talents who have made names for themselves in many fields,” he said.
He added being the oldest private school, Lodge should continue excelling alongside the effort the government in developing Sarawak to a stage that may bring a great and significant impact to the society and the whole nation. Among those present were Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi and Lodge School Association Committee chairman Allister Hilton Smith.
