KUCHING: The Secretary-General of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, appealed to Kapit residents to refrain from participating in any gatherings.

“I heard there may be a gathering (press conference), and I wish to take this opportunity to appeal, informing all residents in Kapit that it is not advisable to do so. This is not a significant matter that requires such attention,” he told reporters today (Nov 17) in response to a viral message that requested Kapit residents to gather at the Kapit Civic Centre for a press conference to object to PBB vice president Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah’s statement concerning the war refugees.

Nanta emphasised that the most important thing is for the people to maintain harmony regardless of race and religion, as highlighted by Abdul Karim.

“Let us not gather in large numbers in the next two or three days. It is unnecessary because the issue is already clear. Your views are also clear, so there is no need to magnify this matter among us as it is not beneficial.

“This is my message, both to PBB members, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), and non-party members such as NGOs out there. Please heed my advice,” he added.
