KUCHING: In response to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases since December 10, the Ministry of Health (MoH) has introduced five key strategies deemed proactive in curbing the pandemic’s spread.

Dr. Siti Rashidah Abu Bakar, a medical officer at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Blood Bank, endorsed these measures.

“While these strategies are not new, they are effective efforts in preventing infection, especially in high-risk groups,” she said.

The public is urged to participate actively in preventing transmission.

“Avoid crowded areas, wear a mask if symptomatic, and wash hands frequently. Our past experience equips us to collectively tackle COVID-19,” she advised.

Today (Dec 18), Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad outlined the MoH’s strategies including early detection of COVID-19 and the SARS-CoV-2 variant, community empowerment via TRIIS practices (Test, Report, Isolate, Inform, Seek), monitoring healthcare facilities to protect high-risk groups, empowering communities through effective communication, and digitising the healthcare system for pandemic management using the MySejahtera app.
