KOTA SAMARAHAN, July 8: Plans to establish a new Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) are progressing, with the procurement process now underway as part of efforts to strengthen the management and administration of the State police force.
Sarawak Police Commissioner CP Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said the new IPK, which will be constructed on land provided by the Sarawak government, is expected to further improve the force’s operational efficiency in the future.
According to Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) news, he said the project had received allocation approval from the federal government under last year’s budget, with the required documentation currently being prepared.
“We are currently completing the necessary documents, and I believe the establishment of the new Sarawak IPK will further enhance the management and administration of the force in the future,” he told reporters after attending the Rank Insignia Presentation and Handover of Duties Ceremony for the Kota Samarahan District Police chief and Padawan District Police chief at the Kota Samarahan District Police Headquarters (IPD) multipurpose hall today.
Mohamad Zainal said the restructuring of leadership positions in several police districts across Sarawak was also part of ongoing efforts to strengthen administration and improve security service delivery to the public.
“The district police chief plays a crucial role in every district. The transfers and promotion of officers are part of our continuous efforts to reorganise district-level administration in Sarawak,” he said.
